About Imgbox

Imgbox is a straightforward image host that supports JPG, GIF and PNG files of up to 10 MB each. It advertises unlimited storage space and storage time, with a fair use limit on free accounts, and provides share codes for direct links, thumbnails and galleries.

When uploading you choose whether the content is family safe or adult, pick a thumbnail size (from 100 × 100 up to 800 × 800 pixels, square or resized), decide whether to allow comments and optionally create a gallery. There is no public browsing of other people's images: an image can only be viewed by someone who has its URL.

How to upload to Imgbox

  1. Go to imgbox.com and select your images.
  2. Choose the content type (family safe or adult), thumbnail size and gallery options.
  3. Upload and copy the share codes. If you are not signed in, keep the deletion link.

Things to know

  • Age requirement: The terms state that users must be 18 or over to use the site.
  • Adult content: Adult images are allowed but must be categorised by the uploader. The terms set a zero tolerance policy on child abuse material, spam and copyright infringement.
  • Removal: Imgbox can delete accounts and content at any time without notice.
  • Reliability: At the time of checking, the home page carried a notice about extended downtime caused by a hosting provider problem. Keep backups of anything important.
  • Data location: Personal information may be stored and processed in the United States.

Frequently asked questions

How long does Imgbox keep images?

The FAQ says images are stored for life, subject to the terms of service. Imgbox still recommends keeping your own backups.

Can I hotlink Imgbox images?

Yes. Use the full size share codes Imgbox provides, as other URLs may change. There is no hard bandwidth limit, but abusive referrers are blocked.

I lost the delete link for an anonymous upload. What now?

Email a deletion request with the link and the upload IP address to Imgbox's DMCA address. Without the IP address you need to submit a formal takedown notice.
